Introducing Handmade by Remember Me
It looks as though I’ve been away from Remember Me Gift Boutique’s blog for years! I feel as though I have neglected my baby, but I really haven’t – I just expanded to include a line of affordable, meaningful and some handmade (by me) remembrance jewelry, scripture jewelry (christian jewelry for women), cremation necklaces for ashes, and general memorial gift ideas. If I don’t have it, I can find it for you!
It is my desire to continue to offer personalized customer service. I still reply personally to all of my e-mails. When I can’t personally help my customers, my company has grown too big. I want to be known as an owner who cares and will do (almost) anything for her customers!
As far as the handmade remembrance jewelry, I sell on Etsy, Amazon Handmade (no longer as of 2020 due to my personal choice), and my newest website Handmade By Remember Me.

For many of us, Cupid’s Arrow is leaving a different kind of mark on our hearts this Valentine’s Day. Of all the holidays, Valentine’s Day can be the most difficult when dealing with the grief from the loss of a loved one.
This year we would like to reach out to those who are dealing with loss due to the passing of their life’s partner or, sometimes just as difficult, loss due to divorce. Most of us have felt the sting of Valentine’s Day at least once in our lifetime. We realize that there was nothing anyone could say or do; it was simply a very difficult day.

Dealing with Loss on Valentine’s Day
While love is in the air and cupid’s arrow is in full swing, Valentine’s Day can be such a painful holiday for so many who are dealing with the grief of losing their spouse. It just doesn’t seem fair that so many are celebrating their love, while others are mourning their loss on this day, as well as many other holidays past and yet to come.
It is incredibly important to have a “plan” for Valentine’s Day. Keeping in mind that everyone grieves differently and handles loss in their own way, the following are just a few ideas to help make this day a bit more tolerable:
1. Plan to avoid restaurants and social gathering places that might make you feel uncomfortable or lonely. If it’s possible to get together with some friends or family members, try to spend your time at their home or yours.
2. Refocus your attention. Valentine’s Day is about love, and there are so many ways to express that love. Why not have a candlelight dinner with your kids. Just imagine the laughter that will evoke. Or if you have a dog, find a recipe for some pet friendly goodies and spoil your pet. Be creative. This will take your mind off of your feelings of loss.
3. Perhaps you would like to reflect on your loved one. There’s nothing wrong with that. Start a journal and write down your thoughts. Write about some special memories that you have from past Valentine’s Days together. Hold on to those treasured memories as they can bring you great comfort. This could be a special time of reflection for you.

Schoolwide Commitment Reduces Bullying by 50%
According to National Youth Violence Prevention, a schoolwide commitment to Bullying Prevention reduces the act of bullying by 50%. It is very encouraging to learn that all the efforts, by many organizations and concerned citizens, have been making an impact on our youth!
There are a variety of classroom activities available that have had an impact on bringing awareness to students. One activity, targetted towards elementary and middle school students, is having teachers involve students in creating classroom rules for bullying. Once the rules are established, each child signs a petition.
