I remember very clearly the day I decided to start my own business.\u00a0 I was sitting at my desk when I received a phone call that a friend’s daughter had committed suicide.\u00a0 Ever since my brother’s suicide (which I briefly discuss in my “About Us” section of my website http:\/\/www.rememberme-gifts.com\/pages\/AboutUs.htm<\/a>), I’ve had an unresolved feeling that I needed to do something to help hurting children, adolescents\u00a0and adults who are contemplating taking their own lives. \u00a0I also had a strong desire to find a way\u00a0 to bring comfort\u00a0to\u00a0their families that were left behind due to such a choice.\u00a0 Since my little brother’s death, I have heard too many stories, too close to home.<\/p>\n

I decided that it was time to pursue my passion of awareness and prevention full-time!\u00a0 However, I am a single mother of three who needed to make a living.\u00a0 So, I merged together my desire to help the grieving\u00a0by selling unique, personalized, and meaningful \u00a0sympathy gifts, www.RememberMe-Gifts.com<\/a>, with my longing to bring hope, inspiration and awareness to those suffering through www.RememberMe-Awareness.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I was extremely excited about this venture and actually informed\u00a0yet another\u00a0grieving mom \u00a0(who lost her\u00a0daughter\u00a0to suicide) about my decision.\u00a0 Her reaction… well, it devasted me.\u00a0 She was concerned that I would be profitting from her daughter’s death.\u00a0 Obviously, she didn’t know me well, and she was in hopeless state of grief.\u00a0 I certainly understood her position, but somehow thought it would bring\u00a0a bit of comfort\u00a0to her\u00a0knowing that something\u00a0was being done in her honor.\u00a0 I do realize, however, that there are many companies that promote charities in an effort to promote themselves.\u00a0 To that I say, “shame on you”, and I never want to be seen in the same light!<\/p>\n

But I think of this constantly.\u00a0 Those who know me, know my heart.\u00a0 Hopefully, through this blogging adventure, people will get to know me and understand my true passion for this venture.<\/p>\n
